MORE FROM ROUNDER;

Alison Kruss + Union Station  "Live"  on Rounder Records

Join Alison with Dan Tyminski, Jerry Douglas, Ron Block, Barry Bales live at the Louisville Palace in Louisville, Ky with great  tunes like "The Lucky One, Choctow Hayride and of course the award winning  "I am a Man of Constant Sorrow."  They packed the place with fans of Bluegrass and they loved them and you will too. If you are in the Des Moines area be sure to see them live at the Civic Center for a return show in Oct,2005.

Jeannie Kendall   "JK"  on Rounder Records

Remember the Kendalls back in the back in the seventies and eighties.  I can and I never failed to play them when I was working at KYNN and WOW in Omaha.  It was a loss of a real talent when Royce passed away.  But it didn't stop Jeannie, they had just signed with Rounder and where recording track they planned to release.  Well those tracks are now out, they include Royce and Jeannie do the great duo singing they type of songs that may the country charts way back when.  Plus Jeannie teaming up with such great current artists like Alan Jackson, Ricky Skaggs,  Alison Krauss, Steve Culley of the group Mountain Heart, Darrin Vincent and Rhonda Vincent.

This IBMA nominated Emerging Artist of the year in 1997 group out of New York's Adirondack Moutains, brings a new energy to the music. Performing songs written by band member Kim Rose who was mentored by Country and Bluegrass hit maker Larry Cordle. Make's you believe that the young artist of he genre are truely going to keep it alive if not bring it back to the top of the heap.  Kim, Joel and Barb Fox where introduced to Bluegrass music by their parents. And by the  late 1980's they  had established themselves on the northeastern Bluegrass circuit. They have now joined forces with Mandolinist Jim Reed and fiddle player Megan Lynch who has played with the likes of Jim Hurst and Larry Cordle.  A super album for the young and the old alike, check it out. You can also hearthem on my Live365.com Country Unplugged show.

SPECIAL CONSENSUS
"IT'S ALL RIGHT"
PINECASTLE    www.pinecastle.com
Here is a great new album out by one of my favorite touring bands "Special Consensus"  Greg Cahill has been at it for been at it for 27 years.  He has  always surrounded himself with the most talented bluegrass voices and instrumentalist in the Bluegrass music business and the current band is not different. I have know Greg for many years, he and Special Consensus was about the only band that would come through Omaha and play bar gig. The first time I meet and hear them was at a place called the "City Limits Saloon on the west edge of Omaha.  Long time friend and Bluegrasser Dick Zion and his then wife had booked them.  They were hot then and still are, and this album is one of the best.  Last time I enjoyed them live Josh Williams the band, I am really impressed with that young man.  The great sounds of dobroist Rob Ickes and fiddler Ron Stewart  have played with them, plus Tim Dishman and Jamie Clifton to. Greg always has the top's in vocalist and pickers, the great songwriter and vocalist Ron Spears is not with them.  Get it and you will be happy and if you are around the Des Moines Iowa area on Sat the 6th of August stop by the Johnston Bluegrass Festival from Noon til 7pm for Special C live, plus 8 other local and regional Bluegrass bands.  Johnston is just off the I-80 & I-35 bypass get off at the Merle Hay exit. Hope to see you there.
